First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Odenton

CHRIST ALONE IS SUFFICIENT FOR SALVATION

All are welcomed to join us in worshiping our Lord and Savior.

We Believe

WE BELIEVE THAT BY GRACE, THROUGH FAITH, THAT CHRIST ALONE IS SUFFICIENT FOR SALVATION.

 WE ALSO BELIEVE

That all Scripture is God-breathed.

In one God, Triune (Father, Son, & Holy Spirit).

That Jesus was born of a virgin as God in the flesh.

That Jesus died for our sins.

That salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone; a gift that cannot be earned by any works.

That Jesus rose from the dead in a physical body of flesh and blood

and that we too will rise to be like Him.

That Jesus will come again.

That Christians receive life eternal through faith in Jesus.

The Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) is a worldwide communion of Christians whose mission is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. We believe that we share a common ministry in as much as God has called us to be His people though the Holy Spirit for His own purposes. We acknowledge that the purposes of God are disclosed in the Scriptures, which we accept as the basis and the prescriptive standard of our faith and life (II Timothy 3).

Holy Communion

The Lord welcomes to his table all that repent of sin and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior. In this meal the Lord is present in his body and blood for the forgiveness of sins. As the Lord’s Supper is a confession of the faith which is confessed at this altar, those who are not yet instructed as members or who hold a confession differing from that of this congregation and the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and yet desire to receive the Lord’s Supper, are asked first to speak to the pastor.

Mission Statement

Grounded in Word and Sacrament our mission is to worship the Lord, share the Good News of Jesus, grow in the faith with the help of the Spirit and meet the spiritual needs of the community.
